SEIU Local 1000 strike vote nears completion amid stalled contract talks

Original: SEIU Local 1000’s strike vote is nearly complete. Where contract talks stand

California's largest state worker union, SEIU Local 1000, is close to finishing a strike authorization vote as contract negotiations with the state remain unresolved. The vote signals members' willingness to walk off the job if bargaining over pay and working conditions fails, and attention is turning to what happens next in talks with state officials.

Why now: A near-complete strike authorization vote among tens of thousands of California state employees raises the stakes in ongoing contract negotiations with the state.
