SEIU Local 1000 strike vote nears completion amid contract talks

Original: SEIU Local 1000’s strike vote is nearly complete. Where contract talks stand

SEIU Local 1000, the union representing a large share of California state workers, is close to finishing a strike authorization vote as contract negotiations with the state continue. The outcome of the vote will signal whether members are prepared to walk off the job if bargaining over wages and working conditions fails to produce an agreement.

Why now: A near-complete strike authorization vote among a major public-sector union raises the stakes in ongoing state labor negotiations.
