Israeli restrictions delay Gaza winter shelter aid by over seven months
Original: Gaza: Israeli restrictions mean entry of winter shelter materials will take over seven months
The Norwegian Refugee Council says Israeli restrictions mean winter shelter materials for Gaza will take more than seven months to enter the territory. The agency warns the delays leave displaced families exposed to cold and wet conditions without adequate tents, tarpaulins and other seasonal supplies, and is urging Israel to speed up approvals and open crossings for humanitarian aid.
Why now: Winter weather is arriving while aid agencies warn that shelter supplies for displaced Gazans are severely delayed by Israeli border restrictions.
