Inflammatory claim about migrant groups in Europe circulates online
Original: Every problem demographic group in Europe is a lower quality variant than the ones that make it here. Except maybe somal
A social media user has claimed that immigrant groups in Europe are 'lower quality variants' of those living in the United States, singling out Somalians as a possible exception. The remark is a broad generalisation about demographic groups and has drawn attention for its dehumanising framing of migrants, reflecting a wider online debate about immigration in Europe and the US.
Why now: Immigration remains a highly divisive topic, and openly hostile generalisations about migrant groups tend to spark strong reactions and debate.
