Former Mossad officer's banned memoir draws renewed attention
Original: Ostrovsky trained for three years to become a katsa. Then he wrote a book that Israel fought hard to bury. # books # boo
Victor Ostrovsky trained for three years as a katsa, an intelligence officer, with Israel's Mossad before leaving the service and publishing his memoir, By Way of Deception. Israel fought to block the book's release, arguing it endangered sources and operations. Readers are revisiting the memoir and the legal battle surrounding it.
Why now: Renewed interest in the memoir and Israel's failed attempt to suppress it, likely amplified by current attention to Mossad operations.
