U.S. mayor woos back Canadian travellers
Original: U.S. mayor makes appeal to Canadian travellers: 'We like you guys, we miss you'
A U.S. mayor has publicly appealed to Canadian travellers, saying 'We like you guys, we miss you' in a bid to bring visitors back across the border. The message comes as Canadian tourism to the United States has dropped, hurting border towns that rely on cross-border shoppers and vacationers. The plea reflects a broader effort by American communities to win back Canadian visitors.
Why now: Canadian travel to the U.S. has declined noticeably, prompting American officials to court them back.
