U.S. mayor appeals directly to Canadian travellers
Original: U.S. mayor makes appeal to Canadian travellers: 'We like you guys, we miss you'
A United States mayor has publicly appealed to Canadian travellers, saying 'We like you guys, we miss you.' The message is directed at Canadians who have cut back on trips across the border, a trend that has hurt tourism-dependent businesses in border communities. The remark highlights growing concern among local officials about the sharp drop in Canadian visitors to the United States.
Why now: Canadian travel to the U.S. has fallen noticeably, and border-town officials are voicing concern about the economic impact.
