RSF-SPLM-N alliance claims advance near Blue Nile capital
Original: RSF-SPLM-N force claims advance near Blue Nile capital, army disputes push
A joint force of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N faction says it has advanced near Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state, in a new front of the country's war. Sudan's army disputes the claim, denying that the allied force made any significant push toward the city.
Why now: Reports of a new RSF-linked offensive near a state capital signal a potential escalation of Sudan's war into a previously less-affected region.
