Sevran

Protesters in Sevran, a working-class suburb north of Paris, are demonstrating over poor conditions in local schools, saying they are not asking for luxury but for basic dignity. Residents describe a chronic neglect by the French state of schools in the banlieues, where overcrowding, crumbling buildings and understaffing have fuelled anger and drawn national attention to inequalities in education funding.
