GitHub Search API

A new open-source tool called Agent-Reach, published on GitHub by Panniantong, is drawing attention for giving AI agents direct access to major platforms including Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, GitHub, Bilibili and XiaoHongShu. Written in Python, it works as a single command-line interface that lets agents read and search across these services, with the developers promoting it as requiring no paid API fees. The project is trending in developer communities.

A developer says GitHub's trending page stopped loading for them, so they rebuilt the digest using GitHub's Search API. The rebuilt feed reportedly surfaced suspicious repositories: four minimal README-only repos, a project gaining 100 stars in four seconds, and multiple repos sharing a single PowerShell loader URL. The findings point to possible star-manipulation or malware-distribution campaigns on the platform, and the account draws attention to how trending lists can be gamed.
