Thirukkural promotion showcases Modi's cultural diplomacy abroad
Original: Thirukkural to the World: PM Modi and Cultural Diplomacy
A commentary highlights Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to take the Thirukkural, the classical Tamil text of couplets on ethics and life, to global audiences as part of India's cultural diplomacy. It frames his outreach, including references to the text in international addresses, as projecting Indian heritage and soft power worldwide.
Why now: Modi's government is actively promoting Indian cultural heritage internationally, and the Thirukkural is a prominent symbol of that soft-power push.
