A parent sorting through old Lego sets from the 1990s is recalling when the Danish toy maker built its own imaginative worlds and characters rather than licensing major film and entertainment franchises. They remember inventing stories to bring their childhood sets to life, and other parents are echoing fondness for that era as they share their own sets with their children today.

Why now: Parents passing down 90s Lego sets are contrasting the brand's original, imaginative themes with today's franchise-heavy licensed products.
