Original: Trump announces formation of AI "Super Intelligence Force"
Donald Trump has announced the creation of an AI 'Super Intelligence Force', a new initiative centred on artificial intelligence. Details about the force's structure, budget and mandate have not yet been laid out. The announcement is drawing attention because it signals AI is being framed as a national security priority, and observers are waiting to see what powers and funding the new body will actually receive.
Why now: A US president tying national security directly to artificial intelligence is a major, novel policy announcement.
