Ceuta migrant camp cleared ahead of Spanish king's visit
Original: Ceuta migrant camp being removed ahead of Spanish king's visit
Authorities are dismantling a migrant camp in Ceuta, the Spanish enclave in North Africa, shortly before King Felipe VI is due to visit the city. The timing has drawn scrutiny, with observers suggesting officials want to present a tidier image of the border city during the royal visit. Humanitarian groups have long criticised conditions in Ceuta's makeshift migrant settlements.
Why now: The removal of migrants just before a royal visit is raising questions about how Spain treats people at its African border.
