Science Voices Rally Behind VoteBlue Hashtags
Original: Science VoteBlue πΊπΈπ # Science # VoteBlue
Supporters of the VoteBlue movement, which encourages voters to back Democratic candidates in US elections, are combining political messaging with science-themed hashtags online. The trend pairs pro-science advocacy with calls to vote, framing scientific issues such as climate, research funding and public health as reasons to support Democratic candidates. Posts using the combination are drawing engagement from progressive users, though the broader impact of the messaging is unclear.
Why now: US election campaigning is prompting progressive users to merge science advocacy with voting mobilisation messages.
