Original: Sudanese army repels RSF, allied rebel group attack near Ethiopian border - War in Sudan - World
The Sudanese army says it has repelled an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and an allied rebel group near the border with Ethiopia. The clash marks a further spread of Sudan's civil war, which began in April 2023 and has already displaced millions and pushed parts of the country into famine conditions.
Why now: Fighting spreading toward the Ethiopian border raises fears of regional escalation in Sudan's war.
