Pacific leaders urged to act, not talk, ahead of COP31

Original: Pre-COP31: World leaders must show up for the Pacific through action, not just speeches

Amnesty International has called on world leaders ahead of the COP31 climate summit to support Pacific nations with concrete action rather than speeches. The appeal, issued in the lead-up to pre-COP31 discussions, stresses that Pacific communities face severe climate impacts and need real commitments on emissions cuts and climate finance. The group says promises alone will not protect the region.

Why now: COP31 preparations have renewed attention on Pacific nations' demands for meaningful climate commitments.
