Ukraine war weighs on Austin FC defender Oleksandr Svatok
Original: A nearly forgotten war is always a worry for Austin FC's Oleksandr Svatok
Austin FC defender Oleksandr Svatok says Russia's war against Ukraine, which he calls nearly forgotten by much of the world, remains a constant worry as he plays club soccer in Texas. The Ukrainian international balances his MLS career with concern for family and his homeland, where fighting continues.
Why now: The war in Ukraine continues while receiving less media attention, and Svatok's comments give it a human face from an active MLS player.
