Photographer's top September image sparks cross-posting debate

A nature photographer shares his most popular September image on Pixelfed and notes a common practice in the fediverse: many users post the same pictures on both Pixelfed and Mastodon in parallel. He points out the downside that followers on Pixelfed then see the same image twice in their feed under different names, and asks others how they handle sharing photos across the two platforms.

Why now: Users of the two fediverse platforms are discussing whether parallel cross-posting improves reach or just duplicates content in feeds.

· marvindiehlphotography · 7
