In 2013, a New Jersey teacher noticed workers mowing the solar field near her home and asked if she could bring in her sheep to graze instead. Her idea turned into a solar grazing arrangement, an approach now widely discussed as a low-cost, eco-friendly alternative to mechanical mowing at solar sites.
Why now: Solar grazing has become a trending topic as solar operators seek sustainable land management solutions.
