Latter-day Saints women desert scandal-hit Republican candidate in Arizona
Original: Latter-day Saints women turn away from scandal-plagued Republican candidate in Arizona
Latter-day Saints women in Arizona are reportedly withdrawing support from a Republican candidate whose campaign has been damaged by scandal. Reports from NPR and other outlets describe a notable shift among this traditionally reliable voting bloc in the state, suggesting the candidate's personal or ethical troubles have eroded backing that Republicans would normally count on in Arizona's competitive political landscape.
Why now: A traditionally Republican-leaning religious voting bloc abandoning a GOP candidate could affect the outcome of a competitive Arizona race.
