Animal Equality UK calls fish slaughterhouse inspection gap a 'disgrace'
Original: Lack of inspections at fish slaughterhouses a ‘disgrace’, says Animal Equality UK
Animal Welfare group Animal Equality UK has condemned the lack of official inspections at fish slaughterhouses, calling the situation a 'disgrace', according to The Guardian. The campaign organisation argues that fish are being killed without adequate oversight or welfare checks, and is pressing for the same inspection standards that apply to land-based slaughterhouses to be extended to fish facilities.
Why now: The campaign group's comments have drawn attention to a gap in animal welfare enforcement that many people had not previously considered.
