A round at Pebble Beach, the famous California golf course, now costs around 400,000 yen, yet golfers from around the world still line up to play it. Japanese golf media are discussing why the venue, long associated with Jack Nicklaus and legendary holes like the par-3 seventh, keeps drawing players despite the price, which also factors in caddie tips and green fees.
Why now: Rising costs at iconic golf destinations are a hot topic among golfers planning overseas trips.
