Italy's fascist history and Jewish tensions spark online debate

Original: you telling me Italy, former fascist country, former Hitler buddies, whose PM is from a fascist party, overrun by hundre

Commentators are mocking the idea that Italy, a country with a fascist past and a prime minister from a party with fascist roots, could now be described as having a problem with Jews. Critics point to the irony of that framing given Italy's large Muslim immigrant population and its World War Two alliance with Hitler, calling the claim absurd and unbelievable.

Why now: The claim about antisemitism in Italy clashes with the country's fascist history and current politics, drawing sarcastic pushback.
