A community training programme has taught young people in the Byerima communities how to make charcoal briquettes as an alternative to wood fuel. Organisers say well-trained youth can become leaders of sustainable development, and that the initiative aims to reduce deforestation driven by the demand for firewood and charcoal in the area.

Why now: The training highlights practical, youth-led solutions to deforestation and climate change, a topic drawing attention in climate-focused communities.
