Colorado State dismissed defensive coordinator Tyson Summers during the first quarter of its 30-point loss to Oregon State, an unusually public mid-game firing in college football. Head coach Jim Mora made the move with the Rams being overwhelmed defensively, drawing attention for its rarity and timing, as coaching changes almost never happen while a game is still in progress.
Why now: Firing a coordinator during the first quarter of an active game is virtually unheard of, making the dramatic move the center of sports conversation.
