Trump Champions Data Centers at Rally With Embattled Republican
Original: Trump Promotes Data Centers at Rally With Republican Facing Heat on Them
Donald Trump used a campaign rally alongside a Republican under fire over data center development to publicly promote the industry, endorsing projects that have drawn local criticism over energy use, water consumption and strain on infrastructure. The appearance puts the president's weight behind an issue dividing voters in communities where data centers are being built, and offers cover for the incumbent politician facing backlash on the subject.
Why now: Data centers have become a contentious local political issue, and Trump's public endorsement at a rally puts a national spotlight on the dispute.
