Trump Urges Republicans to Vote By Mail After Years of Criticism
Original: Trump Urges Republicans to Vote By Mail After Criticizing Practice
Donald Trump is calling on Republicans to vote by mail, reversing his long-standing criticism of the practice, which he had repeatedly claimed was prone to fraud. The New York Times reports the shift marks a notable change in messaging ahead of upcoming elections, as the former president now encourages his party to embrace absentee and mail-in ballots that he once attacked.
Why now: Trump's reversal on mail-in voting contradicts years of his own rhetoric, drawing attention ahead of elections.
