La France insoumise deputy Mathilde Panot is facing criticism after reports that she filmed TikTok choreography videos alongside hooded high school students while riots were spreading across France. The images, shared widely, have drawn accusations of trivialising the unrest and are fuelling political controversy over how left-wing leaders are responding to the nationwide disorder.
Why now: The contrast between serious nationwide riots and a leading MP filming social media videos is seen as politically embarrassing, prompting heavy online reaction.
