ICE Has Been Dumping Protester Photos into a Palantir Database
A Wired report says US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been uploading photos of protesters into a database built by Palantir, the data analytics company founded by Peter Thiel. The story raises concerns about surveillance of political activists and how images collected during protests may be stored, shared, and used for enforcement. Readers are debating the legality of the practice and the expanding role of private tech firms in government surveillance.
Why now: New reporting on government surveillance of protesters by ICE using Palantir technology has sparked concern about civil liberties.
