Russia authorises Sberbank security to shoot down drones
Original: 📰 Russia lets Sberbank security independently destroy drones threatening protected sites 🔗 https://www. uawire.org/russi
Russia has granted Sberbank's private security forces the authority to independently destroy drones that threaten facilities under the bank's protection. The move reflects the spread of Ukrainian drone strikes deep into Russian territory and Moscow's growing reliance on non-military actors for air defence. Coverage, including from Ukrainian outlets, frames the decision as a sign of strain in Russia's response to ongoing drone attacks on infrastructure.
Why now: Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory continue, and giving a bank's security guards shoot-down powers is an unusual escalation.
