Cardinal Mauro Gambetti takes over Chieti-Vasto archdiocese

Original: mauro gambetti

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti is being welcomed as the new archbishop of Chieti-Vasto, succeeding Monsignor Bruno Forte. The CEAM diocesan association publicly bade farewell to Forte and greeted Gambetti, with local Abruzzo outlets reporting the transition. Forte led the diocese for over a decade, and the handover marks a significant change for the Catholic Church in the region.

Why now: The Vatican has appointed a high-profile cardinal to replace a long-serving and well-known bishop, prompting local attention.
