Wind and Solar Are Diversification, Not Transition, Commentator Argues
Original: PERSPECTIVE: Wind and Solar Have an Important Role - But They Are Energy “Diversification”, Not Energy “Transition” - Energy News, Top Headlines, Commentaries, Features & Events
An energy commentary argues that wind and solar power have an important role to play but should be described as energy diversification rather than an energy transition, since they add to the energy mix rather than fully replace conventional sources. The piece challenges the framing of the shift to renewables that dominates energy policy debate.
Why now: Ongoing debate over the pace and framing of the shift away from fossil fuels toward renewables keeps challenges to 'transition' language in circulation.
