Original: cardinale gambetti

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, appointed to lead St. Peter's Basilica by Pope Francis, is leaving his Vatican post under Pope Leo XIV and has been named Archbishop of Chieti. The move is part of the new pontiff's reshaping of the Roman Curia, and Italian media are highlighting the departure of a prelate closely associated with Bergoglio's reign.

Why now: It is part of Pope Leo XIV's new appointments reshaping the Curia, removing a figure chosen by Francis.
