Calls are spreading to boycott FIFA and 'show Israel the red card', linking football's governing body to anger over Israel's war in Gaza. The campaign gained attention after an Ireland press conference was broken up following a racist remark by an Israeli journalist, with supporters in Ireland and elsewhere voicing solidarity with Palestine and accusing Israel of genocide and war crimes.
Why now: The press conference incident and ongoing anger over Gaza have reignited calls to penalise Israel in international football.
