Critics blast Hegseth for crusade-style religious rhetoric

Pete Hegseth is facing backlash after remarks invoking the 'full armor of God' and describing a sacred 'direct line' in relation to America's foes, prompting critics to accuse him of framing US defense policy in crusade-like religious terms. Commenters are questioning whether he assumes adversaries lack faith themselves, arguing such language blurs the line between faith and military conflict and is inappropriate for a defense official.
Why now: Hegseth's fusion of evangelical language with national security rhetoric has reignited debate over religion in US defense policy.
