A gardener on Canada's Vancouver Island region reports that their once-small arbutus tree has grown to roughly 12 feet tall. They are pruning it to develop a long trunk along a fence before letting it branch out above it, calling the tree a beautiful beast and planning to pick fruit as the day's main chore.
Why now: Home gardeners enjoy sharing the surprising growth and care of distinctive native trees like the arbutus.
