Devon community monitors sewage spills in the River Dart
Original: ‘It’s shocking really’: Devon community tracks River Dart sewage spills
Residents in Devon have begun tracking sewage discharges into the River Dart themselves, with one local describing the scale of pollution as 'shocking really'. The community-led monitoring comes amid wider public anger over water companies releasing untreated wastewater into English rivers, and highlights growing grassroots scrutiny of the state of Britain's waterways.
Why now: Public concern over sewage spills into English rivers remains high and communities are increasingly monitoring pollution themselves.
