Apple confirms iPhone cellular fault cannot be repaired
Original: Apple confirms iPhone cellular issue, admits affected units can’t be fixed
Apple has acknowledged a cellular connectivity issue affecting some iPhone models, and has told staff and service providers that affected units cannot be repaired. Customers experiencing the problem are instead expected to be offered replacement devices rather than fixes, raising questions about the scale of the defect and how Apple will handle warranty claims.
Why now: Apple's admission that the hardware fault is unrepairable is unusual and directly affects owners of the affected iPhones.
