Ukraine prepares for another winter of Russian attacks
Original: The winter war: Ukraine is prepping for another season of Russian attacks before the cold sets in
Ukraine is preparing for another winter of Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure, expecting Moscow to repeat strikes on power plants and grids as cold weather sets in. Authorities are reinforcing air defences, repairing damaged facilities and planning heating contingencies, after previous winter campaigns left millions facing blackouts and freezing conditions.
Why now: Russia's past winters of targeted strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have set expectations of a renewed campaign as temperatures drop.
