Rubio Ends Iranian Diplomats' New York Stay
Original: Iran's Diplomats Were Enjoying New York. Rubio Ended It.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio moved to revoke or restrict visas for Iranian diplomats who had been in New York during the UN General Assembly, cutting short their stay in the city. The decision marks a sharp diplomatic rebuke of Tehran and is drawing attention amid ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear programme and stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Why now: A senior US official is taking punitive diplomatic action against Iran at a moment of heightened tension between the two countries.
