Philadelphia City Council backs Starbucks boycott
Original: 🚨 Breaking News: Philadelphia City Council Becomes First to Officially Support Starbucks Boycott Stewart’s Recalls Ice C
Philadelphia City Council has become the first city council in the United States to officially endorse a boycott of Starbucks. The move puts the city on record amid ongoing pressure campaigns against the coffee chain. Separately, Stewart's has recalled ice cream flavors over possible metal contamination. The council's endorsement is expected to fuel wider debate over municipal bodies taking positions on labor and consumer boycotts.
Why now: A major US city council formally endorsing a corporate boycott is an unusual and controversial political step.
