OpenXW, an open-source modernized port of the classic Star Wars X-Wing flight sim, has been released on GitHub by developer elyosh. It arrives alongside ports of the rest of the series from the same author: OpenTIE (TIE Fighter), OpenXvT (X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter) and OpenXWA (X-Wing Alliance), letting fans replay the 1990s classics on modern systems.

Why now: Fans of the classic LucasArts space combat sims are excited that the whole X-Wing series can now be played via modern open-source ports.
