Taiwan and UK sign science and technology agreement covering three projects
Original: Taiwan, UK sign science, tech pact for three projects
Taiwan and the United Kingdom have signed a science and technology cooperation agreement covering three joint projects. The pact, signed in Taipei, formalises collaboration between the two sides in research and technology despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties. Details of the three projects have not been fully disclosed.
Why now: The agreement signals deepening unofficial ties between Taiwan and the UK, a sensitive topic given China's objections to such engagements.
