Plaid leader urges Andy Burnham to back EU membership

Original: Andy Burnham should back EU membership now, says Plaid Westminster leader

Plaid Cymru's Westminster leader says Andy Burnham should now come out in support of Britain rejoining the European Union. The call targets the Greater Manchester mayor, widely seen as a potential Labour leadership contender, and puts pressure on him to take a clearer pro-EU position as debate over the UK's post-Brexit relationship with Europe continues within left-of-centre politics.

Why now: Burnham is viewed as a future Labour leader, so pressure on him over EU policy is attracting attention.
