Remembering Road Trips Before GPS Navigation
Original: Driving before GPS
People are reminiscing about navigating roads before GPS existed, when drivers relied on paper maps, printed directions and roadside signs to find their way. The nostalgia-driven conversation has many sharing memories of getting lost, arguing over fold-out maps and the skills involved in planning a route by hand.
Why now: Nostalgia about pre-smartphone everyday skills is resonating widely as people compare past navigation habits with today's GPS dependence.
