Speaker Johnson says he is confident about holding the House
Original: > Speaker Mike Johnson is “absolutely still convinced” that he can hang onto the House and is not taking any seats “off
House Speaker Mike Johnson says he is "absolutely still convinced" Republicans can keep control of the House and that he is not taking any seats "off his board," according to a political aide. The comment is drawing scepticism from observers who question whether private polling is as rosy as his public confidence suggests.
Why now: With elections approaching, Johnson's insistence on holding every contested seat is being read as either genuine confidence or political spin.
