Sacramento's mural boom brings art and controversy
Original: Murals coat Sacramento with art and controversy. ‘Not just rainbows and butterflies’
Sacramento's growing collection of murals is drawing both praise and criticism. A Sacramento Bee feature describes the city's walls as increasingly covered in large-scale public art, but notes the scene is 'not just rainbows and butterflies' — some works have stirred debate over subjects, placement, and who gets to decide what goes up in public space.
Why now: Local media are highlighting rising tensions over public art as Sacramento's mural scene expands.
