Seventeen EU leaders urge bloc to protect farm funding
Original: Seventeen EU leaders sign letter urging bloc to protect farm funding
Seventeen EU national leaders have signed a joint letter calling on the bloc to safeguard agricultural funding, amid concerns that future budget negotiations could see farm subsidies cut. The letter pushes for continued strong support for farmers in the next long-term EU budget, a key issue for rural economies and the Common Agricultural Policy's future.
Why now: EU budget negotiations are underway, and cuts to agricultural subsidies would directly affect farmers and rural regions across member states
