Flooded Oleshky Under Russian Occupation Faces Starvation Crisis
Original: 'We'll Die This Autumn': Ruined And Flooded, Russian-Occupied Oleshky In Ukraine Starves Under A 'Total Blockade'
Residents of Oleshky, a Ukrainian city in Kherson region occupied by Russian forces since 2022, are facing starvation and deteriorating conditions under what locals describe as a 'total blockade'. The city was devastated by the 2023 Kakhovka dam collapse and remains flooded and ruined, with aid scarce. Locals warn that without food and medical supplies, people may not survive the coming autumn.
Why now: A major report is drawing attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Russian-occupied Ukraine at a time when the war remains in the spotlight.
